A domain name is the unique name that identifies your internet site. For example, the domain name of this website is ‘webmistress.com.au’
When you register a domain name through Webmistress, we’ll do the following:
- Ensure the domain you have selected is appropriate for your organisation and advise what alternative names to buy, if any
- Explain the policy requirements and register your domain in your personal name (individuals) or your company’s name
- Provide you with your domain password
- Manage your domain, including all settings for the website, email etc, for you while it’s hosted by Webmistress
- Send you an invoice when it’s time to renew your registration
What information do we require from you?
To register a domain name for your organisation we require:
- the organisation’s name and ABN
- contact details (name, email, address, telephone, fax)
What if I want to register my domain name myself?
We are happy for you to independently register your domain names through a third party provider. In this case you will need to either provide us with the login details or be comfortable making domain name setting changes yourself. However experience has shown us that registering domain names with third party providers can lead to domain names accidentally expiring or passwords getting lost.
Please note that if you register your domain name through a third party provider instead of Webmistress, we are not responsible for the domain name. All time dealing with support, configuration or any issues with domain names that were not registered through Webmistress is billable.
